An innovating platform supporting an ambitious strategic plan, ODYSSÉA 2024

To become the pioneer in the environmental transition of the marine industry… This is the major objective that the Fountaine Pajot Group has set itself for the coming years with its Odysséa 2024 business plan.

To achieve this goal, the shipyard is counting on a collective awareness and energy, driven by all its stakeholders: its Owners, its Staff, its Suppliers, and even Experts in energy transition or in research and development.

Together, we seek to create low-carbon and ideally net carbon neutral cruising boats and scenarios by 2030.

A true collaborative platform, ODSea Lab [Observe, Design & Save] will be an accelerator of technological solutions whose goal is to transform production processes and the choice of materials, and mainly to implement innovations in renewable energy production, electricity storage and the electrification of propulsion and life on board.

An innovative electric boat: Aura 51 Smart Electric

The Aura 51 is the first Fountaine Pajot model to be equipped with electric motors and an intelligent on-board energy management system in her Smart Electric® version. This new technology is the result of a collaborative work between the Fountaine Pajot teams and experts in #energytransition, supported by the ODSea Lab innovation platform, created by Fountaine Pajot.

Managing the life cycle of our boats

An in-depth study of our business using the internationally recognised GHG protocol has revealed that 80% of the carbon footprint comes from the operational phase of the boat and 20% from its production.

Managing the life cycle of Fountaine Pajot Sailing Catamarans and Motor Yachts as so as Dufour Yachts, through research and innovation, will enable us to significantly limit our impact on the environment and respond to the growing commitment of boat Owners to preserve the oceans.

If we want to continue to enjoy all that the oceans have to offer, we need to act now.

ROMAIN MOTTEAU, DEPUTY CEO OF FOUNTAINE PAJOT

Towards low-carbon cruising

Sailing Yachts, Catamarans and Motor Yachts that are more sustainable:

1
ENERGY autonomy onboard
2
PROPULSION systems
3
More virtuous PRODUCTION
4
Re-use and BIO-SOURCED materials

ENERGY autonomy onboard

Fountaine Pajot & ODSea Lab are working on more virtuous and autonomous energy production while cruising, by pooling solar, wind and hydro-generation technologies. Fountaine Pajot is taking advantage of the horizontal surfaces found aboard its sailing catamarans to install slim solar panels, producing enough energy to meet the needs of life on board.

The shipyard is also working on optimising resources by developing more efficient solutions that are less energy hungry but offer equal or even greater comfort.

For the most efficient use of energy on board, Fountaine-Pajot yachts are equipped with intelligent technology featuring an interactive tool illustrating how the boat balances energy between propulsion and domestic needs.

PROPULSION systems

Today, propulsion from internal combustion engines represents a major part of the carbon footprint of a boat’s life cycle. Fountaine Pajot is therefore working to decarbonise the use of its boats.

In 2022, the Aura 51 will become the first electric catamaran, using green energy and electric propulsion. The teams and experts mobilised with ODSea Lab are working on the development of electric motors for boats, coupled with large renewable energy storage capacity and in the future, fuel cells capable of powering our boats using hydrogen. The Samana 59 will be the first prototype to feature this hydrogen propulsion technology. Two projects that are seeking to revolutionise leisure boating.

More virtuous PRODUCTION

The growth of the Fountaine Pajot group implies a strong commitment by the company to limit the carbon footprint created in the construction of its boats. First and foremost, this commitment implies the continual improvement of the quality of its boats, but also of its production. In order to produce more cleanly, Fountaine Pajot is investing in new boatbuilding technologies that will limit waste during production, particularly when cutting materials, or by equipping its shipyard facilities with renewable energies and implementing large-scale building energy performance improvement projects.

Re-use and BIO-SOURCED materials

To push our environmental policy even further upstream, we are working with our principal suppliers to considerably reduce the carbon footprint of parts and equipment that will be installed and used on our boats by 2030. This involves developing more committed specifications, by reducing the amount of transport in the supply chain on the one hand, and on the other, the use of recycled and/or bio-sourced or of materials that are recyclable…

The main stages of the ODYSSEA 24 plan

With the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, the Odyssea 24 plan and the ODsea Lab innovation platform are structured around major deployment stages that you’ll be able to discover at each launch phase. Follow the #ODSeaLab and #Odysséa24 on all our networks.

The main objectives in our environmental approach, on VIDEO

Odysséa24 - Objectives and challenges of the plan

“For Fountaine Pajot, participating in preserving of the marine ecosystem is a matter of course... The Group can rely on its solid structure and its strength in innovation. But there is also, most importantly, the need for women and men who share this passion, every day...”

ODSeaLab - The boat of tomorrow

“What if the boat of tomorrow was already under way? To build the boat of tomorrow, Fountaine Pajot has developed a collaborative innovation platform designed to federate an ecosystem with the various stakeholders. All in the aim of decarbonising cruising...”

Odysséa24 - Setting a course for eco-boating

“To preserve the marine environment, eco-boating is at the heart of Fountaine Pajot's concerns, for a more sustainable and respectful use of the sea. Our owners are already well aware of this, and we want to give them the keys for adopting a responsible approach to boating...”

ODSeaLab - An industrial transition

“The industrial aspect of the Odyssea 2024 plan seeks to improve the production processes throughout the life cycle of our boats, so as to reduce the impact of our factories as far as possible. This will be achieved thanks to industrial ambitions to be deployed around 3 main factors...”

Odysséa24 - Collective momentum and values

“Above all, Fountaine Pajot is a story about men and women who share a passion for sailing and an equal pleasure for boating in general. This is the reason we feel it essential to pass on our know-how and also the environmental issues for future generations...”

Odysséa24 - Know-how and committed vision

“Wisdom is one of Fountaine Pajot's core values. Sailors understand that wisdom goes hand in hand with experience to move forward. The history of Fountaine Pajot and Dufour continues today with a crew of more than 1,000 employees...”

Odysséa24 - Sharing and transmission

“We have a major role to play in the preservation of the Oceans, through our extended community, with an educational approach. For us, this notion of sharing and transmission is very important, by also bringing together the various players...”
