OCEAN-GOING VESSELS FIRST AND FOREMOST : Designed by the Joubert-Nivelt firm of architects, trawler catamarans are ocean-going boats: Our clients already use trawler catamarans in rough seas: English Channel, North Sea, Bay of Biscay, Golf Stream, trade routes, Mediterranean. Our trawlers have all been tested in rough seas in autumn and spring. The 200 trawlers that have already been delivered have demonstrated their seaworthiness. The main feature of trawler catamarans is their low fuel consumption.

NO ROLLING WHEN SAILING OR WHILE ANCHORED: Fountaine-Pajot trawler catamarans offer greater stability and therefore more comfort with excellent seagoing performance. Navigation is above all quiet: As the engine room is completely separate from the cockpit, you are assured of a peaceful journey. COMFORTABLE, WEATHER-PROTECTED FLY-BRIDGES: The fly-bridges are well protected on all four models, ensuring safety and comfort for long journeys, with a 360° view. EASY MANOEUVRING: The dual engines afford easier manoeuvrability than with a single-hull boat. EXTENSIVE RESEARCH INTO MOVEMENT FOR MAXMUM COMFORT The decks and floors of all our catamarans are clear of obstacles to allow easy and safe movement when sailing or while moored.
SPACIOUS CATAMARANS DESIGNED FOR LIVING: A convivial salon The MAESTRO: a truly private hull for the owner For the entire trawler range we have designed an owner version to meet steady demand from clients wishing to live onboard for long cruises or wanting to offer an independent hull for guests. This model is the result of lengthy research and development by the designers and architects, who expanded upon an established framework to manufacture a quality boat. The result is this: for each model there is the option of an owner version – Maestro – in which an entire hull is designed to accommodate a proper owner’s cabin. |
FIXED WINGS With comfortable navigation and maximum safety in mind, we opted for fixed wings for our power catamarans. In the event of a collision at sea or engine failure, they protect the propellers and rudder blades and keep the boat watertight and safe. The shaft thus enjoying maximum protection; all trawler catamarans can be beached. DUAL ENGINES: GUARANTEED SAFETY The dual engine room is another extremely important pledge of security on our trawlers: each engine is completely independent of the other, with its own electric circuit and fuel tank. Should one of the circuits fail, the boat can continue its journey using the other engine. Mechanical access: the engines are always outside the cockpit; transmissions always in the shaft. There are numerous advantages: comfortable living, silent running, better mechanical access, absence of unpleasant smells in cabins, increased safety, less maintenance. INFUSION: THE SMART CHOICE The whole structure of the boat will be coated with different layers of dry-glued material. Resin will easily fill the gaps in one go. There are several advantages of this approach:
This meets the quality and traceability standards required for each boat. CHECKS AT EACH STAGE OF THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS Construction of a trawler catamaran requires several checks to comply with ISO 9001 V2000. The strength of the composite is measured on each part after removal from the mould, using the Barcol process, and a heat test is then used on samples of each boat to check resistance to gel-coats and laminates’ resistance to hydrolysis. Resistance of deck and panel glue to wear and tear and bad weather is also tested. Once complete, the boat is placed in the workshop pool for tests and checks: all equipment is tried out and a system of soaking ensures that the unit is completely watertight. There is complete traceability for each unit leaving the workshop: an essential aid to future maintenance. Perfectly equipped and tested, our catamarans are then ready to sail. Once in the water, they will take to the sea to join their new home. Many cross the Atlantic or even the Pacific, guaranteed to be reliable and seaworthy. ICNN CERTIFICATION All trawler catamarans have EC certification in accordance with EU directive 94/25. ISO 9001 V2000 CERTIFICATION for the whole company: Fountaine-Pajot is the first French shipbuilder to have obtained ISO 9001 standard version 2000 for the entire manufacturing process of its boats. This certification is an international standard that aims to increase customer satisfaction, thus forcing the company to constantly improve its products and management processes. Certification involves several test levels: Product quality: from design to launch. Traceability: knowing components and the conditions under which items are manufactured throughout the production chain. Quality control: upon receipt, ensuring that supplies meet our expectations, - During manufacture, team leaders carry out informal checks throughout production, - At the end of the composite manufacture, the quality control department carries out aesthetic and structural checks, etc. - After assembly, the quality control department carries out checks on the completed vessel (aesthetic and functional), - Before delivery/use. The Fountaine-Pajot boatyard was founded more than 30 years ago in 1976, and is still led by the same team. The company is now listed on the Alternex market of the EURONEXT NYSE. This requires financial transparency that is checked by the supervisory authorities. By 30 June 2008, Fountaine Pajot will have built 1,850 cruising catamarans that sail throughout the world. To date, more than 200 trawler catamarans have been delivered, the first of which was in 1998.
